Terrorists Ambush Pilgrims' Bus in Jammu, Killing Nine and Injuring 33

Nine people, including three women, were tragically killed and 33 others injured in a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district. The incident occurred when a bus carrying pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh and Delhi was ambushed by terrorists on its way from Shiv Khori temple to Mata Vaishno Devi shrine. The terrorists opened fire on the bus, causing it to veer off the road and plunge into a deep gorge. The rescue operation has been completed, and the injured have been shifted to different hospitals for treatment.According to Senior Superintendent of Police Mohita Sharma, the terrorists had laid an ambush and fired at the bus, causing the driver to lose control. The identities of the deceased are yet to be confirmed, but preliminary reports suggest they are all from Uttar Pradesh. Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Paul Mahajan stated that three of the deceased were women, and it is unclear if any of them were hit by bullets.The incident has sparked protests in various areas of Jammu division, with people demanding stern action against the culprits. Reasi district, which had previously been relatively untouched by terrorist activities, is now facing the persistent threat posed by Pakistan-based terrorist elements seeking to instigate unrest and revive militancy in the region.Union Minister Amit Shah has assured that those involved in the attack will face the wrath of the law. He has spoken to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and J&K DGP R R Swain to take stock of the situation. Lieutenant Governor Sinha has also assured that all possible help will be provided to the affected families.The Congress has expressed concern over the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, stating that this incident reflects the true picture. Former chief ministers Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti, and Ghulam Nabi Azad, along with UP CM Yogi Adityanath, have condemned the attack.This is the second time in three decades that terrorists have targeted a pilgrim bus in Jammu and Kashmir. In July 2017, a bus carrying Amarnath pilgrims was attacked in Anantnag district, resulting in the death of seven pilgrims and injuries to 19 others.The police spokesperson has confirmed that the bus was targeted by terrorists using firearms, causing the driver to lose control and the bus to slide into a nearby gorge. With the help of local villagers, all passengers have been evacuated, and the injured have been referred to various hospitals for treatment.The incident highlights the need for heightened security measures in the region to combat terrorism and ensure the safety of pilgrims and residents alike. The authorities are determined to locate and eliminate the terrorists responsible for this heinous act. The investigation and efforts to bring the culprits to justice are ongoing.
