Tejashwi Yadav Demands NDA To Announce Its CM Candidate For Bihar Polls

Yadav expressed a desire to understand the NDA's plans and vision for Bihar. He stated, "We have announced the CM's face as well. Today, we are going to release the 'Tejashwi Pran Patra' on how we are going to work for the next 5 years. We want NDA to announce the name of their CM. What schemes do they have? What is their vision, and how are they going to take Bihar forward? We have given a roadmap, a vision, and we are clear that we will make Bihar number one. They only speak negative things and make allegations about our leaders."

NDA's Leadership Support

Previously, on October 19, Chirag Paswan of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) reaffirmed his backing for Nitish Kumar as the NDA alliance leader in Bihar's assembly elections. He mentioned that post-election results, JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar would be chosen again as Chief Minister by elected MLAs.

The Mahagathbandhan had earlier declared Tejashwi Yadav as their face for the upcoming polls on October 23. Mukesh Sahani from Vikasheel Insaan Party was named Deputy CM nominee. The main contest in the 2025 Bihar elections will be between NDA and Mahagathbandhan.

Railway Concerns During Chhath Puja

Yadav also criticised Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw over issues faced by passengers during Chhath Puja. He highlighted that Biharis returning home experienced discomfort due to overcrowded trains despite promises of 12,000 special trains being run.

"Look, today we are campaigning -- we have to go all across Bihar. The people of Bihar are in the mood for change; we have said this before. Those people of Bihar who had migrated outside and returned home during Chhath -- seeing the condition in which they came back was painful. The Railway Minister had announced that 12,000 special trains would be run, but just look at the state of our brothers and sisters being packed tightly into the trains -- what happened to those 'special' trains?" he told reporters.

Political Alliances

The NDA coalition comprises Bharatiya Janata Party, Janata Dal (United), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), and Rashtriya Lok Morcha. Meanwhile, Mahagathbandhan includes Congress party, CPI-ML led by Deepankar Bhattacharya, CPI, CPM, and Mukesh Sahani's VIP.

Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraaj has also announced its intention to contest all 243 seats in Bihar. The assembly elections are scheduled in two phases on November 6 and 11 with results expected on November 14.
