Is there a possibility of Cyclone Tej affecting today's World Cup match?

England is set to confront South Africa in the match taking place in Mumbai. Weather conditions can significantly influence the outcome of the game. There have been speculations that Cyclone Tej might have some influence on Mumbai's weather, potentially impacting the Eng vs SA match today. Nevertheless, meteorological experts suggest that the weather may entail some gusty winds but is unlikely to have a substantial impact on the match.

Tej Cyclone: No impact on Gujarat

The IMD has assured that the impending cyclone will not have any impact on Gujarat, although cyclones can sometimes alter their course unpredictably.

According to the standard nomenclature for cyclones in the Indian Ocean Region, this cyclone will be designated as 'Tej.'

Monarama Mohanty, director of the Meteorological Centre in Ahmedabad, stated, "As the cyclone is projected to move west-northwest, it is unlikely to affect Gujarat (situated to the east). Gujarat can anticipate dry weather for the upcoming week."

Alok Kumar Pandey, the state's relief commissioner, affirmed that there is currently no imminent threat, as the storm's trajectory does not pose a danger to Gujarat.

Fishermen warned

The weather department has warned fishermen to avoid venturing into the sea as the cyclonic storm is expected to intensify into a severe storm on October 22.

An earlier statement by the IMD indicated that a low-pressure area in the southeastern and southwestern Arabian Sea has developed into a depression and is anticipated to intensify into a cyclonic storm by the morning of October 21.

It's worth noting that Gujarat, particularly the regions of Kutch and parts of Saurashtra, experienced severe devastation in June this year when Cyclone Biparjoy altered its course and made landfall in Kutch, even though it was initially heading westward.
