Teenage Girl Succumbs to Injuries After Fire Accident Despite Medical Treatment Efforts
A teenage girl, who was hospitalised after a fire incident three days ago that claimed the lives of her grandparents, passed away during treatment on Saturday. Police confirmed that she died on Saturday morning at a government hospital.

Majlis Bachao Tahreek (MBT) spokesperson and former city corporator Amjed Ullah Khan criticised the lack of response from the Chief Minister's office and other officials regarding his requests for the girl's treatment. Despite Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy's assurances of providing the best care, Khan alleged that no action was taken.
Chief Minister's Response
On Friday, a post on X from the Chief Minister's Office stated that Reddy had expressed condolences over the accident. The post mentioned, "Yesterday, he directed officials to ensure best treatment and support for Shruti Gupta, the teenager battling for life. We will take total care of her, CM Revanth Reddy garu assured."
Khan revealed that he moved the girl to a private super-specialty hospital due to inadequate attention at the government facility. He incurred expenses of Rs 2.10 lakh for hospital bills and nearly Rs 1 lakh for medicines. However, as her condition worsened and financial constraints grew, her family transferred her back to Gandhi Hospital on Thursday evening.
Tragic Incident Details
The fire accident occurred late Monday night while the family was preparing Diwali food items. Sparks from a gas stove ignited a box of firecrackers, causing smoke to fill their two-room house. This led to the suffocation deaths of her grandparents, according to police reports. The girl was also treated for asphyxiation.
Khan stated that due to her deteriorating condition and inability to afford further private treatment, she was moved back to Gandhi Hospital. Tragically, she succumbed early on 2nd November, with her body later shifted to the mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
The incident highlights concerns over emergency healthcare responses and financial burdens faced by families in critical situations. The community mourns the loss and questions remain about the adequacy of support provided during such emergencies.
