Teenage Boy Detained in Chhattisgarh for Allegedly Killing Five-Year-Old Girl After Attempted Rape

A 13-year-old boy was detained by police on Tuesday for allegedly murdering a five-year-old girl after attempting to rape her in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. The girl's body was discovered in an under-construction house within a residential colony under Sarkanda police station's jurisdiction, according to officials. She had been missing since Monday evening.

The victim and the accused both resided with their families in the labour quarters of the colony. The girl's family reported her missing to the police on Tuesday morning. Following this, authorities registered a case under section 103 1 of BNS and section 194 of BNSS against an unknown individual and initiated an investigation.

Investigation and Evidence

During the probe, police questioned several labourers and their children. The boy was one of nine suspects identified during these interrogations. CCTV footage from the construction site showed him accompanying the victim, leading to his detention. Upon questioning, he confessed to his involvement in the crime.

The boy revealed to the police that he is addicted to watching pornographic films. He admitted that he took the girl to the under-construction site when he found her alone. When she resisted his attempts to rape her, he attacked her with a stone and wooden log, resulting in her death.

Legal Proceedings

Authorities have taken action against the boy under the Juvenile Justice Care and Protection of Children Act. He is set to appear before the Juvenile Justice Board soon. This tragic incident has raised concerns about child safety and supervision within such communities.

The case highlights the importance of monitoring children's activities and ensuring their safety in residential areas, especially those undergoing construction. It also underscores the need for addressing issues related to exposure to inappropriate content among minors.
