Tamil Nadu: Speeding Truck Collides With A Tourist Van, 7 Women Killed
At least seven women were killed after a speeding truck crashed a tourist van near Tirupattur district in Tamil Nadu. According to the police officials, the deceased hailed from the same village and were returning back home from Mysore.

Reportedly seven women were spot dead while 13 others were severely injured. The deceased have been identified as Meera, Deivanai, Sithammal alias Selvi, Devaki, Savithri, Kalavathi and Geethanjali. Among the injured ten were passengers of the van and three persons from the lorry.
According to the officials, the victims hailed from Onanguttai village, located near Ambur in Vellore district. They were travelling to Dharmasala in Karnataka on September 8.
The villagers boarded two different vans. Unfortunately the tyre of one of the vans had burst near Natrampalli on the Bengaluru-Chennai national highway. As a result, passengers got out of the van and sat on the road.
Meanwhile, a mini-truck travelling from Krishnagiri that was coming with a huge speed collided with the van that was undergoing repair and this led to the death of the passengers.
According to Tirupathur Police Officials, the incident took place in the early hours on Monday with less visibility that might have caused the truck collide with the van which was stationary at a sharp turn. The incident claimed the lives of seven women leaving 10 others critically injured. A case has been registered by the Natrampalli police
Reacting to the horrific incident, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has expressed deep condolences towards the families of the victims. He further said that a compensation of Rs 1 lakh for the family of the deceased and Rs 50,000 from the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund to those injured will be given.
