Swara Bhaskar's wedding reception plan at Aligarh Muslim University runs into controversy
The planned wedding reception of Bollywood actress Swara Bhaskar at Aligarh Muslim University has run into a controversy.
Fazal Hasan, former student union president of AMU, claimed that a 'Dawat' reception is being planned for the newly married couple. He stated that the event will be attended by 50-100 people. However, the university will not remain closed on the occasion.

However, another section of people are against the wedding reception on the university campus and the university administration should cancel any such programme. "If Shaheen Bagh and tukde tukde gang people come inside the campus, anti-India slogans could be raised," Nadeem Ansari, former vice president of the students' union, said.
He claims that such a celebration does not suit a university campus and threatened to protest if any such events are planned at the AMU. "It is good that they got married in the court. This marriage is not even valid under Sharia. What is Walima then? There are many restaurants in Aligarh. Go and give dawat there. If Shaheen Bagh and tukde tukde people come here, anti-India slogans could also be raised. And if that happens, the administration will be responsible," Ansari added.
Fazal Hasan defends their plan to hold the reception as Fahad is an old student of the campus. "Fahad is an old student. We are still discussing the dates. Today also, we held a discussion. After Fahad returns from the US, we will throw the dawt. Will invite responsible people from society, media will also be welcome," HT quoted Hasan as saying.
"People do have different opinions. Swara and Fahad got married under Special Marriage Act. They love each other, it's their personal matter. As friends, we can at least give a dawat and celebrate. This is not my campus, and neither this belongs to any other person. This campus belongs to the university," Fazal added.
The 'Veere Di Wedding' actress on Thursday announced that she has tied the knot with politician Fahad Ahmad. She shared the news on her social media accounts and also tagged Ahmad, who is the state president of Samajwadi Party's youth wing - Samajwadi Yuvjan Sabha.
"Sometimes you search far & wide for something that was right next to you all along. We were looking for love, but we found friendship first. And then we found each other! Welcome to my heart @FahadZirarAhmad It's chaotic but it's yours!" Bhasker captioned a video featuring her husband.
Fahad Ahmad, who graduated from Aligarh Muslim University, is a worker from Akhilesh Yadav's Samajwadi Party. He had come to limelight during the anti-CAA protests.
