Shortly after the explosion, the area was temporarily sealed off but was later reopened. The Delhi Police initiated an investigation into the blast.

In the latest updates on the blast near the Israel Embassy in New Delhi, a loud explosion was reported in Chanakyapuri around 5 pm on Tuesday. The Delhi Police received a call from an unidentified individual asserting the explosion occurred in an empty area behind the Embassy. Rapid response units, including bomb squads and specialized police teams, swiftly arrived at the scene, conducting a thorough search. However, no suspicious items were discovered.

Confirming the incident, the Israel Embassy acknowledged the blast occurred approximately at 5:08 pm near the embassy premises. The Embassy's spokesperson, Guy Nir, stated on Tuesday evening that the Delhi police, along with the security team, continue their investigation. Fortunately, no embassy staff sustained injuries during the incident.

Extensive searches were carried out by the police in the vicinity, leading to the discovery of a letter adorned with an Israeli flag near the blast site. Described as a one-page typed letter, its contents were deemed "abusive" in nature, strongly criticised Israel's actions in Gaza and also mentioned revenge, according to India Today TV reports. The police have not revealed further details about the letter.

"Experts have examined the spot and lifted exhibits that may have evidentiary relevance. The same are being sent for forensic examination," Delhi Police said in a statement.

No traces of burnt explosives were discovered at the scene, prompting experts to consider the possibility of a "chemical explosion," as per the PTI news agency. Additionally, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), an anti-terror probe agency, conducted its examination of the site.

The Israeli foreign ministry has confirmed cooperation between Israeli authorities and their Indian counterparts in investigating the cause of the explosion.

Israeli missions around the world have been on high alert since Israel declared war against the Palestinian terror group Hamas, following the latter's surprise attack on Israel on October 7.

In response to the incident, security measures around the Embassy and other Israeli facilities in India were reinforced. Chanakyapuri, where the blast occurred, is a diplomatic hub hosting missions from various countries in the national capital.

Notably, in 2021, an explosion near the Embassy caused damage to multiple cars. Furthermore, in February 2012, a bomb planted beneath an Israeli Embassy vehicle injured a diplomat's wife.
