Netizens React

The incident at Mantralaya sparked a wave of reactions on social media, with users expressing a mix of concern, frustration, and questions about the recurring nature of such events. One user lamented, "Why do people not value their lives? No matter the problem, don't give up!" Another user questioned the frequency of such incidents, stating, "Does this keep happening often? This seems to be the second such case." A third user simply asked, "Why did he jump from the Mantralaya building?"

Some comments reflected deeper societal concerns. One user remarked, "Safety nets were installed to stop suicide attempts. This country is doomed. We are treated like cockroaches." Another user highlighted the effectiveness of the safety measures, saying, "Inside Mantralaya, there is a three-layer net that makes suicide attempts nearly impossible. I don't understand why people still jump." A sixth user raised broader issues, asking, "How much more will such things happen? Why are people being harassed after paying heavy taxes for everything?"

Others provided context about the safety measures in place. One user explained, "The safety net was installed after similar incidents in the past to prevent such attempts." Another user recalled a previous incident, stating, "On June 6, a Mumbai man attempted suicide by jumping from the upper floor of Mantralaya." A ninth user referenced a past threat, noting, "In July 2025, a 55-year-old man threatened to jump from a fifth-floor window."

Similar Incidents

This is not the first time where such instances have occurred in Mantralaya.

In March 2024, seeking solution over a civic issue, a street food vendor named Arvind Pravin Bangera had visited Mantralaya to meet a minister, last year. When he was unable to meet the minister, Bangera reportedly tried to end his life by jumping from the third floor. Fortunately, the safety net prevented a tragedy. He was subsequently detained and taken to the Marine Drive police station.

In June and July of the same year, similar incidents were reported.
