Beware Delhiites, you may lose driving license or may be sent to jail
New Delhi, Nov 19: Be careful while driving in Delhi. New strict traffic rules may land you in jail if you are found guilty of breaking rules.
The new rules will come into effect in a few weeks. Delhi Police officials were quoted as saying, "We will launch an awareness campaign regarding traffic violations and resultant punishments, including suspension of driving licences."

"It will be followed by implementation of the directions of the committee," added Delhi police officials.
A Supreme Court committee issued a guidelines on roads safety. The committee recommended that traffic police would seized or cancelled driving license if the driver is found guilty.
Driving license might be cancelled for minimum three months and it may also be cancelled for lifetime. It depends on the nature of the offense.
The apex court committee has recommended jail terms for driving recklessly under influence of alcohol.
The suspention orders would be applicable for violations like overspeeding, overloading, drunk driving and using mobile phones while at the wheel.
