Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis Advocates for Streamlined Land Acquisition Process to Boost Industries

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has urged officials to simplify land acquisition processes and make them more industry-friendly. He highlighted the importance of updating policies for industries, electronics, gems and jewellery, textiles, and MSMEs to meet current demands. These initiatives are part of his government's 100-day plan. Fadnavis chaired a review meeting where he discussed these measures.

Fadnavis Calls for Streamlined Land Acquisition

Fadnavis announced that the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) currently has 3,500 acres ready for allocation. Additionally, the process to acquire another 10,000 acres is in progress. He stated, "A total of 50 new services will be added on the MAITRI portal under the zero-pendency policy within the next 100 days." The introduction of AI-based chatbot facilities on both the MAITRI and Directorate of Industries portals aims to boost efficiency.

Investment and Export Initiatives

The Chief Minister instructed officials to establish district-level investment and export councils to boost industries and exports. A target has been set to create 10,000 new entrepreneurs under the Chief Minister's Employment Generation Programme. He emphasised that investment incentives should be distributed promptly. Projects like AURIC City, Dighi Port, and Bidkin Industrial City should be prioritised for completion.

In a separate meeting focused on labour issues, Fadnavis stressed the need for a comprehensive plan to benefit unorganised sector workers through Central and state government schemes. He directed officials to consolidate these schemes onto a single platform, aligning them with worker classifications under the Central government's e-Shram portal.

Labour Reforms and Worker Benefits

Fadnavis highlighted that Maharashtra has about 1.5 crore registered unorganised workers. He called for strengthening ESIS hospitals to provide better services and suggested introducing training programmes through ITIs to improve workers' skills. The implementation of the Centre's new labour codes was also directed by him.

He proposed new regulations for reactor use and amendments to the Maharashtra Private Security Guards Act. Revised schemes for construction workers were also suggested. An online cess collection system and a strengthened industrial tribunal framework were among his proposals.

These comprehensive measures aim to enhance Maharashtra's industrial landscape while ensuring worker welfare is prioritised. By streamlining processes and updating policies, Fadnavis seeks to create a more conducive environment for business growth and employment generation in the state.
