Step By Step Guide On How To Rig Elections...: Rahul Gandhi's Fresh Attack On BJP

Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi has accused the BJP of manipulating last year's Maharashtra Assembly elections. Rahul Gandhi shared his views in an op-ed titled 'Match-Fixing Maharashtra' on X, detailing what he believes was a rigged election process. He described it as "How to Steal an Election?"

Gandhi claims that the BJP used a five-step method to influence the election results in Maharashtra. He also warned that similar tactics might be employed in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. According to him, this strategy could be used wherever the BJP faces potential losses.

Allegations of Election Manipulation

In his op-ed, Gandhi alleged that changes made by the Narendra Modi government to appoint Election Commissioners were biased towards the Centre. He criticised the amended act from 2023, which altered the selection committee's composition for these appointments.

The new selection committee includes the Prime Minister, a Union Cabinet Minister, and the Leader of Opposition or leader of the largest opposition party in Lok Sabha. This committee recommends names for Chief Election Commissioner and Election Commissioners to the President.

Concerns Over Selection Committee

Gandhi questioned why a cabinet minister replaced the Chief Justice of India in this selection process. In his article for Indian Express, he asked readers to consider why a neutral figure was removed from such an important institution.

He further claimed that voter lists were inflated with fake entries. Gandhi pointed out an unusual increase in voter turnout by 7.83 percentage points after voting closed, equating to 76 lakh additional votes.

Accusations of Voter Fraud

In his final points, Gandhi accused the BJP of orchestrating bogus voting where they needed victories and concealing evidence afterward. The INDIA alliance's success in Maharashtra's Lok Sabha polls contrasted sharply with their unexpected loss in subsequent Assembly elections.
