Delhi Election: Kejriwal Questions Deployment Of Gujarat SRPF Companies For Assembly Polls
Eight units of the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) from Gujarat have been sent to Delhi for the upcoming assembly elections, according to an official statement.
This deployment was ordered by the Election Commission, and the SRPF teams arrived in Delhi on January 13, as confirmed by Tejas Patel, Commandant of SRPF Bhachau.

Arvind Kejriwal, leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), expressed concerns over this decision. He shared a circular from the Additional Director General of Police, Armed Unit, regarding the SRPF's deployment. Kejriwal questioned why Punjab Police was replaced by Gujarat Police in Delhi. "What is going on?" he asked in a post on X.
Security Concerns Raised
Kejriwal's tweet followed the withdrawal of Punjab Police personnel assigned for his personal security.
He described this move as "pure politics" and emphasised that personal safety should not be politicised. The decision to withdraw Punjab Police was made after instructions from Delhi Police and the Election Commission, stated Gaurav Yadav, Punjab's Director General of Police.
The election process for Delhi's 70 assembly seats is scheduled for February 5, with vote counting set for February 8.
