Sri Sri Ravishankar urges for cleaning Godavari before Kumbh
Nashik, Jan 14: The Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravishankar has urged the district administration to take steps to reduce pollution in Godavari river before the commencement of the Kumbh mela here later this year.
Lakhs of people will come to attend the Kumbh mela and to take a holy dip. If Godavari river remains polluted, they will carry diseases with them, the spiritual leader said after inaugurating a new building of Nashik Municipal Corporation's (NMC) Panchavati divisional office here yesterday.

He asked the district administration, NMC and local residents to work hard to clean the rivers Godavari, Kapila and Nasardi before the Kumbh mela.
He also asked the civic officials to take steps to stop the flow of sewage and other pollutants from drains into the Godavari river. Nashik Mayor Ashok Murtadak, NMC Commissioner Praveen Gedam,
MPCC chief Manikrao Thakre, NCP leader and former minister Chhagan Bhujbal were among others who attended the event.
