"Special Treatment": Amit Shah On Arvind Kejriwal's Bail In Delhi Liquor Policy Case

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday termed the Supreme Court's decision to release Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor Arvind Kejriwal on interim bail as a "Special treatment" during a conversation with news agency ANI, quoting social media users. The statement from BJP top leader came in response to a question related to the latest development in the Delhi Liquor Policy alleged scam.

When asked about Delhi CM's recent statement that this case has been fabricated by the BJP and he doesn't have to go back to jail if INDIA bloc is being voted to power, Amit Shah called it a clear contempt of the Supreme Court's verdict. The apex court has asked Arvind Kejriwal to surrender on June 2.

Commenting in Hindi, Shah said that he believes "this is clear contempt of the Supreme Court. He (Arvind Kejriwal) is trying to say that if someone emerges victorious, the Supreme Court does not send them to jail even if they are guilty. The judges that granted him bail have to think how their judgment is being used or misused."

"The Supreme Court has the right to interpret the law. I believe this was not a normal or routine judgment. Many in the country believe that special treatment has been given," Shah added.

Home Minister also junked the claims of a CCTV camera connection directly to PM Modi's office from a barrack in which Arvind Kejriwal was kept.

Mocking Delhi CM, Amit Shah said how can anyone have a control over Tihar jail CCTV camera feed. In fact, the Tihar Jail comes under the Delhi government's control, adding that Arvind Kejriwal is lying.

He further told the reporter not to take AAP chief seriously as his party is contesting on only 22 seats, and he is making promises to the entire country.

"Don't take him too seriously. His party is fighting only 22 seats and he is guaranteeing that electricity bills will be waived for the entire country. You are fighting only 22 seats, how will you form the government," Amit Shah further stated.
