Speaker likely to reject privilege motion against PM, Sitharaman and Rahul Gandhi
New Delhi, July 25: Privilege motion moved against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman on the issue of Raffle Aircraft deal and privilege motion against Rahul Gandhi are in all likelihood not going to be accepted by the Lok Sabha Speaker.

Indications are coming in that privilege motions might not be accepted by the Lok Sabha Speaker as they might not be substantiated. Actually both the political parties are trying to get mileage out of it as elections are coming closure.
The BJP alleged Rahul Gandhi for telling the House lie while the Congress is alleging the PM and the defence minister to misguide house.
Leader of the Congress in Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge moved the breach of privilege motion against PM Modi while Congress leader Jyotiradtiya Scindia submitted the notice against Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
BJP Members of Parliament Nishikant Dubey, Anurag Thakur, Dushyant Singh and Prahalad Joshi have given the notice to the Speaker against Rahul Gandhi.
Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said on Wednesday that privilege notices against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman were under her consideration. She said that she had received five privilege notices against the Prime Minister and five against the Defence Minister from members of Opposition parties for allegedly misleading the House on the Rafale deal during the debate on the motion of no-confidence against the government.
She also said that four privilege notices had been received against 'one person' - Congress president Rahul Gandhi - and these were also under her consideration.
Sources say that actually the Congress seems to have some documents related to the matter of Raffel deal but it does not want to hand it over to Parliament rather it wants to keep this issue alive till Lok Sabha elections and showing up these documents to media occasionally will help the Congress to gain dividend out of it.
Sources said that both the political parties are fighting to get political mileage out of the move. There is also a dilemma for the Speaker as she cannot accept the motion moved only by the BJP for being alleged to be partitioned. So both the motions are expected to be rejected by the Speaker which is prerogative of Speaker.
