SP-Congress alliance, a gateway to national politics for Akhilesh

The Congress and the Samajwadi Party have time and again spoken on how the alliance is not limited to the assembly polls alone.

The masterstroke of an alliance between the Samajwadi party and the Congress for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh polls is likely to emerge as a gamechanger. Apart from changing dynamics for the other political parties in the fray as well as the voters, the alliance has become the gateway to national politics for Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.

The Congress and the Samajwadi Party have time and again spoken on how the alliance is not limited to the assembly polls alone. Congress vie-president Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh are expected to prolong the bonhomie till the 2019 general elections and much beyond.

In many of his recent interactions with the press, Akhilesh has said that his party's association with the Congress will be longstanding. While the alliance with SP will give the Congress the much needed ground for organisaition in UP, it has opened up a gateway to national politics for Akhilesh.

Most opinion polls predicting a lead for the SP-Congress alliance in Uttar Pradesh has only cemented the agreement of both parties to venture together in the furture. Many political observers belive that party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav was close to Singh since he was the 'Delhi connection'.

Mulayam Singh Yadav chose to side with Amar Singh in the hopes of making his position in the national political arena important.

The Rahul connection will do the same for Akhilesh Yadav.Winning UP means having the power to affect political diaogues in the country and the alliance aims to achieve the same. While it will give the Congress the much needed ground for resurgence, for the SP and Akhilesh in particular, it has opened up venues at the national political scenario.
