Smriti Irani
New Delhi, June 11: The new Human Resource Development (HRD) minister -- Smriti Irani seems to be all set to win hearts of school children with her three new proposals. The big ticket ideas, as she called it, have been tabled to improve school education in India.

What is 3 Ticket Ideas proposed by Irani?

1. Providing buttermilk mandatorily to children as part of the Mid-Day Meal scheme.

2. Opening separate model schools for talented boys and girls at the district level.

3. Declaring Saturday as sports day in schools.

According to media reports, Irani on Wednesday, June 11 asked the Department of School Education & Literacy to estimate the cost to be incurred on providing buttermilk and opening model schools.

As per the sources close to the ministry, Irani thought of providing butter milk in mid-day meal keeping health issues of children in mind. Buttermilk can cure rampant amoebiasis among school children.

However, the idea of making Saturdays as fun days for children by declaring it as sports days in schools would be initially implemented in schools run by the HRD ministry.

A source has been quoted as saying, "It is a good idea. Most education policies have emphasized blending sports and academics but in reality nothing has changed. Devoting a day for sports can usher in positive change among children and will make them more confident."
