Sidhu Moosewala Statue In Haryana Shot At; Mother Calls It An Attack On His Legacy

A statue of the late singer Sidhu Moosewala in Dabwali, Haryana, was recently targeted by gunfire. Following this incident, his mother, Charan Kaur, expressed her distress on Instagram. She lamented that even after her son's passing, his adversaries continue to disturb his memory. The singer was tragically killed by gangsters in 2022.

In her heartfelt message, Kaur described the attack as a blow to her soul and an assault on Moosewala's legacy. She emphasised that her son had been a voice for people's rights and that attempts were being made to silence him even after his death. She assured that Moosewala's legacy would endure as a movement.

Lawrence Bishnoi Gang's Involvement

The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has claimed responsibility for the attack on the statue. They issued a warning to those who honour Moosewala as a martyr, suggesting they would face severe consequences. Goldy Dhillon and Arzoo Bishnoi, associated with the gang, accused Digvijay Chautala and Gagan Khokri of misleading the public by installing the statue.

The statue was installed last year by Digvijay Chautala, state president of Jannayak Janata Party (JJP), in Sawantkheda village of Dabwali. Recently, unknown individuals fired at it during the night, causing damage and sparking widespread attention on social media.

Threats and Legal Action

A video clip showing the firing was sent to Chautala from an international number on July 29. It contained threats indicating that sympathisers of Moosewala would be targeted next. Consequently, a case was registered in Dabwali, Sirsa district.

Moosewala's mother remains hopeful for justice. "I want to tell everyone that one day, the guilty will definitely be punished for their actions," she stated. She also mentioned that their silence should not be mistaken for defeat.

Sidhu Moosewala joined the Congress Party in December 2021 before he was shot dead allegedly by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang in Punjab's Mansa on May 29, 2022. His untimely demise shocked fans and left a lasting impact on many across India.
