Shraddha Walkar case: Aftab cut her hands first, used blowtorch to disfigure her face

The chargesheet reveals that he shifted Shraddha's body to bathroom after murdering her.

New Delhi, Feb 07: Aftab Amin Poonawala, accused of murdering his live-in partner Shraddha Walkar, reportedly disfigured her face and head using a blowtorch, India Today reported citing police chargesheet.

His earlier claims of burning Shraddha's bones and grinding them was to mislead the cops, the chargesheet said. The accused had purchased saw, three blades, a hammer, and plastic clips from a hardware shop on the day he strangled Shraddha Walkar's to death.

According to the report, after murdering her, he shifted Shraddha's body to bathroom, chopped off her hands using the saw and stored it in a polythene bag which was kept in a lower cabinet of his kitchen.

A day after the murder, he dumped her thigh part in Chhattarpur forest area and in the next few days, he cut the body into 17 pieces. He has also confessed that he used a blowtorch to disfigure Shraddha's head and face. He did away with Shraddha's hair and her identity was erased before disposing of her body piece by piece.

As per the earlier confession, Aftab had claimed that he cut her body into 35 pieces, brought a new fridge to stored it and dumped piece by piece for the next 18 days.

He had also confessed during the narco-analysis test that he chopped off her body using a Chinese knife (cleaver) to cut Shraddha's body and threw the weapon in the bushes near his office in Gurugram. He has also informed the cops that he dumped her severed head in Mehrauli forest.

On the night of the murder, Aaftab went to a nearby hardware shop and purchased a saw, three blades, a hammer, and plastic clips.

Background
Aftab and Shraddha met through a dating app Bumble in 2019 and later moved in together at a rented accommodation in Delhi's Chhattarpur area. Her parents were against the inter-faith relationship and had stopped talking to her after she decided to move to Delhi with him.

Poonawala allegedly strangled his live-in partner, Shraddha Walkar, and sawed her body into 35 pieces, which he kept in a 300-litre fridge for almost three weeks at his Mehrauli residence in South Delhi's Mehrauli, before dumping them across the city over several days in the dark of night.

Aftab, who is currenttly in Tihar Jail, was arrested on November 12 and sent to five-day police custody, which was further extended by five days on November 17. On November 22, he was sent to police custody for four days. The court on November 26, sent him to judicial custody for 13 days.

An FIR was registered against the attackers under Sections 186, 353, 147, 148 and 149 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Prashant Vihar Police Station in connection with the case.
