Kartikeya Chouhan Defends Remarks After Digvijaya Singh Offers Political Advice

Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh and Kartikeya, son of Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, engaged in a verbal exchange on Friday. This followed Digvijaya Singh offering political advice to Kartikeya. The incident was sparked by Kartikeya's speech at a rally in Budhni, Madhya Pradesh, which is preparing for a bypoll. His comments, suggesting the area would suffer if BJP lost, went viral on social media.

Kartikeya responded to Digvijaya Singh's remarks by expressing respect for him as a former two-time chief minister of Madhya Pradesh. However, he accused Digvijaya Singh of spreading fear. Kartikeya claimed that people in Budhni were apprehensive about Congress rule due to past governance issues when Digvijaya was chief minister from 1993 to 2003.

Political Tensions Rise in Budhni

The bypoll in Budhni became necessary after Shivraj Singh Chouhan resigned as MLA following his success in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He has since joined the Narendra Modi government as the agriculture minister. Kartikeya's name was initially considered for the bypoll candidacy before BJP selected former MP Ramakant Bhargava to contest against Congress's Ramkumar Patel.
