Shivalik LPG Carrier Reaches India After Crossing Strait Of Hormuz, Government Confirms Indian Seafarers Safe

An LPG carrier named Shivalik, which sailed from the Persian Gulf, is expected to reach India around 5 p.m. on Monday, according to officials from the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.

The vessel successfully crossed the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, a major global shipping route currently under close monitoring due to rising tensions in the region.

Officials said all necessary arrangements have been made at the port to ensure that the vessel docks smoothly and cargo is unloaded without delay.

Priority Arrangements at Port for LPG Carrier

Authorities confirmed that documentation procedures and priority berthing have already been arranged before the ship's arrival.

These preparations are aimed at ensuring that the LPG cargo is discharged quickly and efficiently once the vessel reaches the port.

Government officials emphasised that the arrangements were made in advance so that there would be no disruption or delay in handling the shipment.

Indian Seafarers in Persian Gulf Safe

Speaking on the situation, Rajesh Kumar Sinha, Special Secretary in the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, said Indian authorities are closely monitoring maritime activities in the Persian Gulf region.

He confirmed that all Indian seafarers currently working in the area are safe.
According to Sinha, there have been no incidents involving Indian vessels or crews in the past 24 hours.

22 Indian Vessels Operating in the Region

Officials also shared details about the presence of Indian ships in the region.
Currently, 22 Indian-flagged vessels are operating west of the Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf.

These ships have 611 Indian seafarers onboard, and the government remains in constant communication with each vessel and its crew.

Authorities said they are maintaining continuous surveillance of the situation and are ready to respond quickly if any security concern arises.

Strategic Importance of the Strait of Hormuz

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most critical maritime routes for global energy supplies.

A large portion of the world's oil and gas shipments pass through this narrow waterway connecting the Persian Gulf with international markets.

Because of its importance, any tension or disruption in the region can have a significant impact on global shipping and energy supplies.

Officials reiterated that the government is closely monitoring the situation in the region and maintaining regular contact with ships and crews operating in nearby waters.
