Prithviraj Chavan Alleges BJP's Senior Leadership Endorsed 2022 Shiv Sena Split

Veteran Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan has asserted that the 2022 Shiv Sena split, which led to the fall of Maharashtra's Maha Vikas Aghadi government, had backing from the BJP's top brass. Speaking in Satara, the former chief minister highlighted that the upcoming November 20 assembly elections are occurring against the backdrop of the June 2022 events when some Shiv Sena MLAs revolted against Uddhav Thackeray.

Chavan Claims BJP Endorsed Shiv Sena Split

After this division within the Shiv Sena, Eknath Shinde, who spearheaded the rebellion, assumed the role of chief minister. Chavan remarked that these state elections are unfolding within a specific political context. He claimed that the BJP's senior leadership orchestrated the downfall of the MVA government by facilitating a split in the Shiv Sena.

Political Dynamics and Allegations

Chavan elaborated that this entire operation had approval from top leadership and was not merely a local effort by a few individuals in Mumbai. He described it as a well-planned strategy with the BJP's full machinery involved. According to him, it resembled a military operation where MLAs were provided with security and chartered flights.

He further criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that Modi cannot dare to use his anti-corruption slogan "na khaunga, na khane dunga" in Maharashtra. This phrase translates to "neither will I indulge in corruption, nor allow anyone else to indulge in it." Chavan implied that such claims would not hold ground in the current political scenario in Maharashtra.
