Shashi Tharoor compares Kanhaiya with Bhagat Singh: Twitterati hit out at Congress MP

New Delhi, Mar 21: Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Monday came under sharp criticism over Twitter after he compared controversial JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar with freedom fighter Bhagat Singh.

Taking a dig at ruling BJP over its stand on the JNU row, the former minister Tharoor on Monday said nationalism is now decided by whether one can say 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' or not.

Speaking on 'JNU and Nationalism' outside the administrative hall of the varsity, Tharoor compared Kanhaiya Kumar with Bhagat Singh and reportedly said,"Bhagat Singh was the Kanhaiya Kumar of his time."

It was due to this statement from the senior Congress leader which drew sharp criticism over Twitter.
