Sharon Raj Murder Case: Kerala Court Sentences Greeshma To Death For Murdering Boyfriend

A Kerala court has delivered a verdict in a tragic case of a poisoned love affair. The Neyyattinkara Additional Sessions Court in Trivandrum has sentenced Greeshma to death for the murder of her boyfriend, Sharon Raj.

Greeshma was found guilty of several charges, including kidnapping or abducting to murder, causing hurt by poison, murder, and causing the disappearance of evidence to screen an offender. This ruling came after a detailed investigation into the events leading to Sharon's death.

In addition to capital punishment, Greeshma received a 10-year sentence for kidnapping with the intent to murder and a 5-year sentence for causing evidence to disappear and providing false evidence.

Special Public Prosecutor VS Vineeth Kumar, who represented the victim's family says, " ...While I was arguing before court, I was confident that evidence will be accepted by the court, I had argued that there is rarest of the rare case category is there in this and capital punishment should to be awarded...this is an exemplary judgement..."

The Murder That Shocked Kerala

On a fateful day in October 2022, Sharon visited Greeshma in her Kanyakumari home, unaware of the tragic fate awaiting him. He was served an Ayurvedic concoction spiked with pesticide, which he ingested, leading to immediate health complications. Despite initially stabilizing after hospital admission, Sharon's condition worsened, resulting in his untimely demise on October 25 due to severe organ damage caused by the toxic substance.

The Murder

Sharon and Greeshma's relationship began innocently enough, with the two meeting on a bus and connecting over shared interests. Their bond grew over a year, with Sharon studying BSc Radiology and Greeshma pursuing a postgraduate degree in literature. The dynamics shifted drastically when Greeshma's family arranged her marriage to another man.

This case has highlighted the extreme lengths individuals may resort to when faced with personal dilemmas, casting a shadow over the notion of love and trust. Greeshma's actions not only resulted in the loss of a young life but also left a permanent scar on the families involved and the community at large.
