Pawar slams BJP over Ram temple politics, says inequality rose due to Manusmruti

NCP chief Sharad Pawar criticised the BJP for making Ram temple politics the most important event before people and said inequality rose in society because of the ancient text Manusmruti.

Taking a dig at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) founder Sharad Pawar on Monday said that politics in the country has started over the upcoming consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya and those in power are presenting it as the most important event before people.

Pawar Criticizes Manusmruti

Ram temple politics

Speaking at the launch of a book here, Pawar said it cannot be ignored that inequality rose in society because of the ancient text Manusmruti. It will not be an exaggeration if it is said the varna caste system harmed the Hindu religion, said the former Union minister.

BJP's Hindutva Not Acceptable: Uddhav Thackeray

Speaking at the event, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray asserted that he has snapped ties with the BJP, but not Hindutva. The former CM further said that the BJP's version of Hindutva was not acceptable to him.

Ram Temple Consecration Ceremony

Last month, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, which is expected to take place on January 22.

Pawar's criticism of the BJP's focus on the Ram temple and Thackeray's assertion of his commitment to Hindutva reflect the complex political landscape in India, where religion and politics are often intertwined.
