'Shame on you': Akshay Kumar gets slammed by netizens for 'walking over India's map' in new video

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar dropped a new ad for an airline, but it is grabbing eyeballs for all the wrong reasons.

Mumbai, Feb 06: Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar is receiving criticism on Twitter after he recently posted a clip on Twitter for an advertisement, where he was seen walking on a digitalised version of a globe. However, this didn't go well down asNetizens were quick to notice that the actor was stepping on the map of India in the clip and slammed him for showing no respect towards the country.

In the clip Akshay was seen promoting an international airlines company, which had announced its global tour that would begin in March. In the clip, Akshay is seen smiling and walking around the digitally created version of a globe. The advertisement also featured actors Disha Patani, Nora Fatehi, Mouni Roy and Sonam Bajwa.

A section of Twitter users slammed Akshay for walking on a map of India in the ad.

A person wrote, "Bhai thodi to respect kar liya karo hamare Bharat ki (Brother, please show some respect to our country.)"

While another user said, "What a shameful and arrogant person... walking on India's map..." Another one said, "What do you want to achieve by doing this? Respect India."

"A Canadian actor is walking over an Indian map and insulting Indians. How is this even acceptable? @akshaykumar, you have to apologise to 150 crore Indians for this shameful act," another user wrote.

A user said, "Seriously. Who came up with this idea to walk on a map ? No matter how much people want to distance themselves from these issues, you movie folks keep doing these blatant mistake, which is responsible for the ire you guys are receiving."

Another person said, "Had any of the Khans (Bollywood actors) rubbed the map of India with their shoes, then they would have been boycotted by now."

The actor has earlier stated that he has decided to relinquish his Canadian citizenship and applied for an Indian passport.
