Intolerance Controversy: Dilwale Effect? Shahrukh Khan apologises to Indians
Mumbai, Dec 17: The infamous debate over intolerance, which has rocked the country lately, is back. This time it was Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan who reminded everyone about the controversy.
Shahrukh now apologised for his previous remark on "intolerance" in the country. The actor's apology came just days before the release of his Hindi movie -- Dilwale.

Even before its release, which is due on Dec 18, Shahrukh's Dilwale has already landed in trouble. Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) earlier raised demand to boycott the movie accusing the actor of not giving financial aid to the drought-hit farmers of the state.

Now, critics may claim that Shahrukh's apology surfaced at this time as he may not want to take any other risk which may affect his upcoming Bollywood movie. Hence, the actor did not waste his time and apologised for his "intolerance" remark.
Speaking at a TV news channel, Shahrukh was quoted as saying that he apologises for his statement if it hurts someone's sentiments. He also stated that he hasn't faced any intolerance in India and has never spoken about it.
The actor, however, clarified that his apology does not have any connection with his upcoming movie Dilwale.
Shahrukh earlier had faced criticism for his remark on intolerance. The King Khan of Bollywood supported the authors and artists who have returned their awards protesting against the growing intolerance in the country.

The actor was quoted as saying, "...the logic is that if we want to move forward, we should not keep such things in our mind like sex differentiation, whether the person is fair or dark, which religion the person belongs to, which region the person hails from or which caste the person belongs to."
