Amit Shah Urges BJP Cadres in Maharashtra to Resolve Internal Differences Before Elections

Union minister Amit Shah urged BJP leaders in Maharashtra to resolve internal conflicts before the upcoming assembly elections. Addressing a gathering in Mumbai, Shah emphasised that a divided organisation cannot succeed. This was his third visit to the state in two weeks. He met with BJP MLAs and select party workers, including Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and state BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule.

Shah Calls for Unity Among BJP Workers in Maharashtra

Shah highlighted the importance of unity within the party, stating, "An organisation where workers function in different directions never succeeds." He advised resolving any dissatisfaction with MLAs or MPs to retain voter support. The elections are anticipated in November, and Shah stressed the need for an amicable resolution to internal differences.

Strengthening Booth-Level Operations

The senior leader instructed local leaders to appoint ten workers per polling booth. These workers should be active from Dussehra on October 12 until the campaign's end. Shah also advised against asking new members for votes during registration, suggesting they will understand voting importance once they join.

Shah urged party workers to aim for adding 20 new voters at each booth. He noted that loyal workers take on challenging tasks and resolve disagreements that arise when working together. This approach is crucial for ensuring victory in the elections.

Ghar Chalo Abhiyan Initiative

Bawankule mentioned that Shah directed the Maharashtra BJP to launch the Ghar Chalo Abhiyan. This campaign aims to reach every household with messages about government development efforts. Strengthening the party's booth-level network and increasing voter turnout were also emphasised.

The BJP is part of the ruling Mahayuti alliance in Maharashtra, which includes Shiv Sena and NCP. Last month, Shah visited various regions like Vidarbha, North Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Western Maharashtra to engage with party workers and legislators.

Past Election Performance

In 2019, BJP won 105 out of 164 assembly seats it contested in Maharashtra, having a pre-poll alliance with the undivided Shiv Sena. In Mumbai, it secured 16 out of 36 assembly seats. However, in the 2024 general elections, the party struggled, winning only nine of the 28 Lok Sabha seats it contested in the state.

The focus remains on strengthening grassroots connections and addressing internal issues before the elections. By doing so, BJP aims to improve its performance compared to previous elections and maintain its influence in Maharashtra's political landscape.
