Alternative Arrangements to be Made by TMC After Special Train Request Denied: Abhishek Banerjee
The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of creating roadblocks for its planned protest in Delhi on October 3. This comes after a request for a special train from West Bengal to New Delhi was declined by the railways. Senior TMC leader, Abhishek Banerjee, stated that his party would make alternative arrangements and warned of repercussions if participants were attacked while travelling through BJP-ruled states.
In a recent turn of events, Senior Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Abhishek Banerjee has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of deliberately creating roadblocks to impede TMC supporters from reaching Delhi for their protest program scheduled on October 3. The accusation followed the denial of a request by the TMC for a special train to transport its supporters from West Bengal to New Delhi.
Denied Request for Special Train

The Eastern Railways received the request for the special train via IRCTC and cited unavailability of rakes as sought by it as the reason for refusal. This decision has led Banerjee to state that his party will make alternative arrangements to ensure its supporters reach Delhi in time for the protest program. The senior leader expressed his displeasure at this move during a press conference, accusing BJP of intentionally creating hindrances.
Allegations against BJP
Banerjee alleged that first, they were not granted permission for Ram Leela Maidan, then he was served with a notice demanding him to appear before Enforcement Directorate on that very day and now this last-minute refusal of providing a special train. He warned that if participants travelling through BJP-ruled states face any attacks en route, there would be serious repercussions.
Mobilization Efforts
Banerjee highlighted how West Bengal is home to approximately 2.65 crore people who possess MGNREGA job cards and stated that thousands among them have arrived in Kolkata from various parts of the state with an intention to travel onwards to Delhi. Their aim is clear - demand their rights and raise their voices against issues affecting them.
This incident reflects another chapter in ongoing political tensions between TMC and BJP which have been escalating over time. While the TMC accuses BJP of creating obstacles, the latter has not yet responded to these allegations. The denial of a special train might have added fuel to this political fire, but it is unlikely to dampen the spirits of TMC and its supporters who are determined to make their voices heard in Delhi.
In conclusion, as Banerjee stated, alternative arrangements will be made for transportation. It remains to be seen how this situation unfolds and what impact it will have on the planned protest program. Regardless of the hurdles faced by them, TMC's resolve seems undeterred with an unwavering commitment towards ensuring that their demands are raised at a national level.
