Court Sends AAP's Sanjay Singh to ED Custody till October 10 over Alleged Money Laundering Case
In a recent development in the Delhi excise policy case, senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh was remanded into the custody of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for five days by a Delhi court. The decision comes after his arrest by the ED on October 4th under allegations of money laundering. The court order, delivered on Thursday, October 5th, allows for thorough and sustained interrogation of Singh to fully trace out the complete trail.
Sanjay Singh Remanded in ED Custody

The ruling was made by Special Judge M K Nagpal who decided that Sanjay Singh will remain in ED custody until October 10th. This period is deemed necessary for the federal probe agency to conduct its detailed investigation and interrogate him thoroughly. Following this period of custody, as per legal procedure, Sanjay Singh will be produced before the court.
Allegations Against Sanjay Singh
The Rajya Sabha MP has been accused of having direct links with activities related to proceeds from crime involving an amount of Rs 2 crore. These serious allegations led Judge Nagpal to observe that sustained and custodial interrogation appeared vital to uncovering all aspects related to these charges. The material presented before the court further substantiated these claims against him.
Necessity for Sustained Interrogation
Singh's alleged involvement in such activities necessitates a comprehensive examination which can only be achieved through detailed and prolonged questioning while he is held in custody. This would allow investigators ample opportunity not just for questioning but also confrontations with both oral and documentary evidence pertaining to this case.
Court's Decision Based on Facts & Circumstances
Judge Nagpal’s verdict was based on careful consideration of all facts and circumstances surrounding this case. The decision to remand Sanjay Singh in ED custody was made with the objective of ensuring a thorough investigation into these allegations and tracing out the complete trail of this alleged crime.
In conclusion, this recent development marks a significant turn in the Delhi excise policy case as it allows for an intensive probe into the role of senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh. The court's decision underscores its commitment to uphold justice by enabling authorities to conduct their investigations thoroughly and without hindrance. As we await further developments, it is hoped that this period of sustained interrogation will shed light on all aspects of these serious allegations against him.
