'Sengol' Kept in Museum As 'Stick of Nehruji', Smriti Irani Tears Into Congress

Union minister Smriti Irani expressed her strong criticism of the Congress party during a press conference regarding the opposition parties' boycott of the inauguration ceremony for the new Parliament Building.

She accused the Congress and the Gandhi family of neglecting the significance of 'Sengol', a symbol of freedom, by keeping it hidden in a museum as a mere 'stick of Nehruji'.

Irani also questioned the Congress party's motives behind the boycott of the new Parliament building inauguration, and said "they won't understand the meaning of transfer power. Are they against Hindu religon?."

She also demanded clarification from the Congress party regarding their failure to invite the Governor in Chhattisgarh and other places.

The 'Sengol,' previously housed in the Nehru Gallery of the Allahabad Museum, has been transported to Delhi today in preparation for its installation in the new Parliament building. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will formally receive the 'Sengol' and it will be positioned near the chair of the Lok Sabha Speaker.

A fierce exchange of words has erupted between nearly two dozen opposition parties and the government concerning the 'Sengol' and the decision to have Prime Minister Modi inaugurate the new Parliament instead of President Draupadi Murmu, who has not received an invitation to the event.

Nineteen opposition parties, including the Congress, released a joint statement on Thursday, accusing an 'authoritarian prime minister' of completely sidelining President Murmu. They labeled this action as a 'grave insult and a direct assault on democracy.'
