Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate the new Parliament House to the nation on Sunday.

Ahead of the inauguration, the inside pictures of the new Parliament have been released.

Constructed at the cost of Rs 1250+ crore, the new Parliament building can comfortably seat 888 members in the Lok Sabha chamber and 300 in the Rajya Sabha chamber.

In case of a joint sitting of both the Houses, a total of 1,280 members can be accommodated in the Lok Sabha chamber.

The Prime Minister had laid the foundation stone for the building on December 10, 2020, and has been built in record time with quality construction, the Lok Sabha Secretariat said.

It has to be noted that the existing building of the Parliament was completed in 1927.

According to government officials, Teak wood was obtained from Nagpur, Maharashtra, and sandstone (red and white) was acquired from Sarmathura, Rajasthan.

The carpets floored inside the new building were procured from Mirzapur (Uttar Pradesh) and the bamboo wood flooring came from Agartala (Tripura).

The materials used to construct the Ashoka Emblem were obtained from Aurangabad (Maharashtra), and Jaipur (Rajasthan), while the Ashok Chakra came from Indore (Madhya Pradesh).

Certain furniture items were acquired from Mumbai. Red granite from Lakha and Ambaji White marble from Ambaji (Rajasthan) were also procured. Additionally, Kesharia Green Stone was sourced from Udaipur.

The stone carving work was sourced from Abu Road in Udaipur, the stone aggregate was obtained from Kotputali (Rajasthan), M-Sand was procured from Chakari Dadri (Haryana), and Fly Ash Bricks were sourced from NCR Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

Meanwhile, the Opposition parties have continued to attack the ruling government as they oppose the Prime Minister inaugurating the new Parliament building.

They want Draupadi Murmu to inaugurate the building as she is not only the Head of State, but also an integral part of Parliament as she summons, prorogues, and addresses it.
