Security beefed up at govt hospitals in Maha post doctors strike
The Maharashtra government on Thursday tightened the security across the government hospitals in the state after the order from bombay high court on security for doctors.
Mumbai, April 6: After the Bombay high court order, the state government on Thursday has tightened the security across the government hospitals after the doctors' strike. On March 23, the Bombay high court directed the government to provide security for the government-run hospitals' doctors to go to work without fear.
Around 4,000 doctors held the strike for more than a week after a doctor was thrashed by the relatives of a patient in early March.

The doctors called off the strike after the court assured them the security and requested to give some time for the government in this regard. The court added that it would hear the matter again after 15 days.
The court also directed the government not to take any strict action against the protesting doctors once they resume their duties.
Later, the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis too urged the doctors to resume duties and promised to provide security in the hospitals.
During the protests by the doctors, the out-patient department was severely hampered.
Earlier, the state government has assured of providing 500 security personnel in the hospitals for the doctors' safety.
It is recollected that a few doctors attended their duties and treated the patients with wearing helmets indicating their support to public and against the agitating doctors.
