Schools In Haryana To Be Closed On September 23: Nayab Saini Govt Announces Public Holiday On Shaheedi Diwas
All schools in Haryana, both government and private, will be closed on September 23. This closure is due to Shaheedi Diwas, a public holiday. The Haryana Government's human resources department had previously announced that certain dates would be public holidays for all state offices.
Shaheedi Diwas, also known as Haryana War Heroes Martyrdom Day, is observed annually on September 23. It commemorates Rao Tularam, a freedom fighter and Yaduvanshi Ahir King of Rewari who played a significant role in the 1857 revolt. The day marks his death anniversary and honours those who sacrificed their lives for India's independence.

Schools and Colleges Closed
The holiday affects all educational institutions in the state, including schools, colleges, and coaching centres. As it is listed in the official calendar, schools across districts like Faridabad and Gurgaon will remain shut. They are set to reopen on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. This gives students an extended weekend break.
On Shaheedi Diwas, people pay floral tributes to martyrs at a state function held at the war memorial. This event serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by freedom fighters and soldiers for the nation.
Tributes to Martyrs
Last year, CM Manohar Lal Khattar expressed his respect for the martyrs through a tweet: "My humble tributes to our martyrs on Haryana's Heroes Martyrdom Day. This special occasion is a remembrance of the courage and valour of our martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for our country so that we can live in peace and freedom. Jai Hind."
This regional public holiday highlights the importance of remembering those who fought for India's freedom. It ensures that their bravery and sacrifices are not forgotten by future generations.
The observance of Shaheedi Diwas reflects the state's commitment to honouring its heroes. It serves as an opportunity for citizens to reflect on the past struggles that paved the way for today's freedoms.
