Schoolboy Faces Legal Action for Sending Offensive Messages About Another Student's Religion
Authorities have initiated a probe following the circulation of screenshots from a conversation between two schoolboys. The chat, which contained allegedly offensive comments about each other's religions, surfaced online, sparking tensions on Monday evening. A significant number of people from the minority community gathered outside one of the boys' homes, leading to a substantial police presence.

The protesters demanded the arrest of the boy who made the objectionable remarks. Additional Superintendent of Police Rural Pavitra Mohan Tripathi stated that both children attend the same school and exchanged inappropriate messages. These messages included offensive comments about each other's religions.
Police Deployment and Legal Actions
As news of the incident spread, a large crowd assembled in the area during the evening. To maintain order, police have been deployed due to the ongoing festival season. A case has been filed regarding this incident, and further legal actions are underway, according to Tripathi.
An FIR was lodged based on a complaint by Rehmat Ali Hashmi, a resident of Nanpara town. The complaint was filed against one of the children at the local police station under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. These sections include 298 for injuring or defiling a place of worship with intent to insult religion, 302 for uttering words with deliberate intent to wound religious feelings, 352 for intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace, and 353 for statements conducing to public mischief.
Context of Rising Tensions
This incident occurs amidst protests and unrest in various parts of Uttar Pradesh. The tensions have been exacerbated by controversial remarks made by Yati Narsinghanand, a priest based in Ghaziabad, about Prophet Mohammed. These remarks have contributed to heightened sensitivities across communities.
The police are actively working to ensure peace in the region while investigating the matter thoroughly. The situation remains delicate due to the ongoing festival season and recent events that have stirred emotions among different communities.
