‘Satyamev Jayate!’ Anant Singh Breaks Silence After Arrest in Mokama Murder Probe

JD(U) candidate and former MLA Anant Singh was arrested early Sunday in connection with the murder of Dularchand Yadav, reigniting political tensions in Mokama just days before polling. The arrest followed a violent clash on Thursday between Singh's supporters and those of Yadav, a Jan Suraaj campaigner.

According to police, Singh was taken into custody from his Barh residence under the supervision of the Patna SSP. Two others, Manikant Thakur and Ranjeet Ram, were also detained for their alleged involvement. All three were presented before a magistrate at Patna Civil Court, where a decision on custody is awaited.

Anant Singh Calls Arrest Politically Motivated

Shortly after his arrest, Singh released a video message on Facebook alongside police officers, saying, "Satyamev Jayate! I have full faith in the people of Mokama. The people of Mokama will now contest the elections." His statement suggested that he viewed the arrest as part of a larger political ploy.

His lawyer, Naveen Kumar, echoed this sentiment, alleging that the move was designed to manipulate the upcoming elections. "This is purely political. Dularchand's death was unfortunate, but Singh has been wrongly implicated to influence voters," Kumar said.
