Thakur said that Vikas Malu has separated from his wife Saanvi and the allegations were a conspiracy to gain popularity. Saanvi Malu had earlier written to the Delhi Police Commissioner, alleging that her husband killed Kaushik to avoid repaying money he had borrowed from him.

According to her complaint, Vikas Malu had taken Rs 15 crore from Kaushik but did not return. This led to an altercation between the two. The businessman had told Saanvi that by calling Russian girls and giving them blue pills, he would kill Satish Kaushik.

During inquest proceedings, nothing suspicious or objectionable was found at the spot or from the room of the deceased, except for some medicines, police said, adding all witnesses were examined and their statements recorded.
