New Delhi, Nov 12: The Samjawadi party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav may be known as Dhartiputra but it seems he is not interested in adopting a village under Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojna(PMAGY). Similarly, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi may have received accolades for visiting to a Dalit home in past, but he is also averse to Prime Minister's most praised project.

Tuesday was the last date for adopting a village under the PMAGY, but many of the parliamentarians from Uttar Pradesh didn't do so. And that included many bigwigs I.e Congress president Sonia Gandhi, vice president Rahul Gandhi and SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav. Though, Mulayam's daughter in law Dimple Yadav and nephew Tej Pratap Yadav adopted the village under the programme.

Mulayam Singh had contested Lok Sabha election from two seats , Azamgarh and Mainpuri and won both of them. Later he left Mainpuri for Azamgarh. On the matter of taking up the village, the district magistrate of Azamgarh said that they have yet not received any official intimation on the front.

In Congress camp, party stalwarts Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi have yet not selected a village, though the list has been sent to them, says official sources. Rahul Gandhi is MP from Amethi while Sonia Gandhi is from Rae Bareli.

Meanwhile, the Centre has increased the deadline to one more week after seeing less proclivity in the direction . Last week the Prime Minister Narendra Modi adopted Jayapur village amid much hype and hoopla when he had visited his constituency Varanasi.
