Samajwadi Party Shares List Of Candidates For UP Bypolls; Check Names Here
The Samajwadi Party (SP) has announced its candidates for the upcoming by-elections in Uttar Pradesh. These elections will fill vacancies in 10 Assembly seats across the state. Following a strong performance in the Lok Sabha elections, SP is optimistic about its chances in these by-elections.
Tej Pratap Yadav, a member of the Yadav family and grandson of Mulayam Singh's elder brother, is running from Karhal. He previously served as an MP from Mainpuri. Naseem Solanki, wife of former SP MLA Irfan Solanki, is contesting from Phulpur. Ajit Prasad, son of MP Awadhesh Prasad, is standing from Katehari.

Key Candidates and Their Backgrounds
Shobhavati Verma, wife of MP Lalji Verma and a former District Panchayat member, is contesting from Majhwan. Dr. Jyoti Bind, daughter of SP leader Ramesh Bind who lost to Anupriya Patel in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, is running from Bind. Mustafa Siddiqui will represent SP in Milkypur.
The by-elections are scheduled for various constituencies including Katehari (Ambedkar Nagar), Karhal (Mainpuri), Milkipur (Ayodhya), Meerapur (Muzaffarnagar), Ghaziabad, Majhawan (Mirzapur), Sishamau (Kanpur city), Khair (Aligarh), Phulpur (Prayagraj), and Kundarki (Moradabad).
Potential Political Tensions
Reports suggest that Congress is displeased with SP for announcing candidates without consulting them. The tension arises as Congress has not yet decided whether to accept SP's offer of two seats or to end their alliance. This decision could impact the political dynamics between the two parties.
The Samajwadi Party's strategic candidate selection reflects its aim to leverage familial and political connections to secure victories. By fielding candidates with strong local ties and political backgrounds, SP hopes to strengthen its position in Uttar Pradesh's political landscape.
As the by-elections approach, all eyes are on how these developments will unfold and affect alliances within Uttar Pradesh's political scene. The outcome could influence future collaborations between major parties like SP and Congress.
