Lucknow, March 15: The Samajwadi Party (SP) has announced the names of its six candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh. The candidates are Yashveer Singh Bijnor, Manoj Kumar Nagina, Bhanu Pratap Singh Meerut, Bijendra Singh Aligarh, Jasveer Valmiki Hathras, and Daroga Saroj Lalganj, the party said on Friday.
SP Allocates Bhadohi Seat to Trinamool Congress
In a significant move, the SP has decided to give the Bhadohi Lok Sabha seat to the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC). The TMC has fielded Laliteshpati Tripathi from the constituency. The party expressed its gratitude and confidence in Tripathi, stating, "Under the guidance and inspiration of...Mamata Banerjee, we are pleased to announce the...candidate from the parliamentary constituency of Bhadohi in Uttar Pradesh. We wish the best to Laliteshpati Tripathi and hope he succeeds in this endeavour."
Tripathi's Political Background
Laliteshpati Tripathi, who was previously associated with the Congress, holds a notable political background. In 2012, he contested and won the Marihan assembly constituency in Mirzapur district of Uttar Pradesh. He defeated Satyendra Kumar Patel of the Samajwadi Party by a margin of 8,523 votes. Tripathi is the great-grandson of the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister, Kamalapati Tripathi.
SP's Candidate List and Electoral Alliance
This announcement marks the fourth list of Lok Sabha candidates declared by the Samajwadi Party. With this latest list, the total number of candidates declared by the SP stands at 37, as confirmed by the party's chief spokesperson, Rajendra Chaudhary. It is worth noting that the SP has already allocated 17 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh to the Congress as part of their electoral alliance, which was officially announced on February 21.
