Saima Wazed, daughter of former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has publicly expressed her profound sadness at being unable to see her mother during the current political crisis in Bangladesh.

Despite the personal turmoil, Wazed has reaffirmed her dedication to her professional role as the regional director for the World Health Organization's Southeast Asia division.

Aftermath Of Hasina's Resignation

On Monday, Sheikh Hasina's resignation from the position of prime minister was announced, following intense student protests that called for her resignation. The confrontations between the government forces and protesters have resulted in significant casualties, with at least 300 people, including security personnel, losing their lives, as reported by Hindustan Times.

In light of escalating violence and safety concerns, Hasina fled Dhaka and sought refuge in New Delhi. Her son, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, has indicated that she intends to stay in Delhi until a permanent asylum solution is secured.

During an interview with NDTV, Joy articulated his mother's aspirations and efforts, stating, "It was her dream to transform Bangladesh into a developed nation. Over the past 15 years, she worked tirelessly to protect it from militants and terrorism. Despite these efforts, control has now been taken by a vocal minority, including the opposition and militants."

In the wake of these developments, Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus is anticipated to be sworn in as the head of the interim government on Thursday. This follows the dissolution of parliament and the formation of a consensus among military leaders, opposition parties, and student movement representatives.

Yunus has emphasized the importance of peace and stability, urging, "Violence is our enemy. Please don't create more enemies. Be calm and get ready to build the country."
