Sachin Tendulkar receives warm welcome promises wi-fi, electricity in adopted village

Nellore, Nov 16: Warm welcome and fans cheering, that is what former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar experienced on Sunday, when he arrived at Puttamraju Kandrika, a village that he adopted in Nellore.

Tendulkar on Sunday arrived at the village that he has adopted under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana.

Sachin promises wifi, schools in village

Speaking to the people here he said that he would provide wi-fi, drinking water and unlimited power supply to the village.

He also promised to build a hospital, a school and a training centre for women. This was his first visit to the village after announcing that he will adopt it. Sachin will lay the foundation stone for housing, construction of road and some other development works.

While Tendulkar promised to provide all facilities to the villagers, the people here in turn promised him that they would stop consumption of tobacco and alcohol.

Tendulkar even spoke about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Swachh Bharat' campaign. He alloted Rs 2.29 crores for development of the village.

Before leaving, Sachin thanked the people of Puttamraju Kandrika, and promised to develop the entire area as model village.
