After being denied permission at first,Mohan Bhagwat unfurls Tricolour in Kerala
The chief of the RSS, Mohan Bhagwat who was restrained from hoisting the Tricolour has now unfurled the flag at a school in Kerala. The decision to allow the RSS chief to hoist the flag was taken after a protest by the BJP.

Earlier he had been restrained from hoisting the National Flag at Palakkad in Kerala. The restraining order was passed by the district collector. The BJP has challenged this decision. The Palakkad District Collector issued a memo to the Karnakkiyamman School, which said, "It is inappropriate for a political leader to hoist national flag in an aided school."
The memo added that only "a teacher or elected representative of the people" can hoist the flag. The BJP however insists that the RSS chief will hoist the flag.
The decision is likely to spark some debate. There is already palpable tension in the state between the BJP and the Left cadres. The state has incidents several incidents of violence in the past couple of years.
