Royal Scions Shine: BJP's Regal Resurgence In 2024 Lok Sabha Polls

Several descendants of royal families contesting the 2024 Lok Sabha elections on BJP tickets are garnering significant votes. Prominent candidates, including Jyotiraditya Scindia of Gwalior, Dushyant Singh of Dholpur, and Mahima Kumari Mewar of Udaipur, are leading with considerable margins.

Scindia, a former Congress member and a key player in BJP, is leading with over 5 lakh votes in Guna, Madhya Pradesh. This marks his first election as a BJP candidate from Guna, historically represented by his late father, Madhavrao Scindia, and grandmother, Vijayaraje Scindia. Meanwhile, BJP is sweeping Madhya Pradesh, leading on all 29 seats.

In Rajasthan, Dushyant Singh, a four-time elected prince from Jhalawar-Baran, leads with over 3.5 lakh votes. Mahima Kumari Mewar is ahead in Rajsamand, Rajasthan, by around 4 lakh votes. BJP holds a dominant position, securing one seat and leading on 13 out of 25.

Further south, US-educated Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, the titular head of the Mysuru royal family, is leading in Mysuru by over 1.3 lakh votes. BJP leads on 15 seats out of 28 in Karnataka.

In Odisha, Malvika Devi, a descendant of Kalahandi's royal family, leads by about one lakh votes. BJP shows strong performance, leading on 19 out of 21 seats.

In Tripura, Kriti Singh Debbarma leads with over 5.5 lakh votes, contributing to BJP's lead on both parliamentary seats in the state.

However, not all royal candidates have been successful. Vikramaditya Singh from Himachal Pradesh trails behind actress-turned-politician Kangna Ranaut. Similarly, Rajmata Amrita Roy from West Bengal lags by over 50,000 votes to TMC's Mahua Moitra.
