RLP Joins INDIA Bloc to Address Unemployment and Protect Democracy

In a significant political development in Jaipur on March 23, Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) convener Hanuman Beniwal announced the party's decision to join the opposition INDIA bloc. This move comes ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, with a focus on addressing critical public interest issues such as unemployment and inflation. The Congress party, on the same day, unveiled its fourth list of 45 candidates for the upcoming elections, notably leaving the Nagaur parliamentary seat in Rajasthan for RLP.

RLP Aligns with INDIA Bloc

Beniwal, a former Member of Parliament (MP) from Nagaur and currently serving as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), highlighted the increasing disparity between the rich and poor in India. He also raised concerns over the misuse of independent institutions like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Expressing confidence in the INDIA bloc's appeal to the electorate, Beniwal stated his belief that the coalition would garner support from both the people of Nagaur and voters across Rajasthan in the Lok Sabha elections.

The decision for RLP to join forces with the INDIA alliance and for Congress to allocate the Nagaur seat to RLP is seen as a strategic move to strengthen democratic systems within the country. "To protect the democratic system in the country, we took one step and the Congress Party took one step. As a result, today, the Nagaur Lok Sabha seat was given to the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party in INDIA alliance," Beniwal remarked.

Lok Sabha elections in Rajasthan are scheduled to be held in two phases, on April 19 and 26. Beniwal's previous victory in Nagaur during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections was as part of an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). However, he parted ways with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) over issues related to farmers' protests in December 2020. This year, the BJP has nominated former Congress MP Jyoti Mirdha to contest from Nagaur, setting up a direct contest between Beniwal and Mirdha, who are known to be arch-rivals.

This political realignment marks a crucial phase in Rajasthan's political landscape as parties finalize their strategies and candidate lists for the forthcoming national elections. The collaboration between RLP and the INDIA bloc underscores a collective effort to address pressing national issues while aiming to secure electoral success in Rajasthan's contentious battlegrounds.
