Retired IAS Officer Slaps Pet Owner In Noida Over Lift Usage, Video Goes Viral

A disagreement involving the use of an elevator with a dog resulted in a confrontation among residents in a Noida apartment on Monday. A retired civil servant and a woman got into a physical altercation after he refused to allow her to take her dog in the lift at Park Laureate Society in Sector 108.

Both parties began recording the incident on their phones. The situation escalated when the woman took the man's phone, leading to a physical altercation, as seen in CCTV footage.

During the confrontation, the man reportedly slapped the woman. In response, her husband arrived, and she explained the situation to him. This led to another round of physical altercations as the woman prevented other residents from entering the lift to protect the man.

The apartment's security personnel had to step in to separate the two men.

After a video of the clash went viral on social media, the police were called to the apartment. They reviewed the CCTV footage. Both parties provided written statements to the police, asking that no action be taken against them.

However, the police stated that they would continue their investigation into the matter.

The issue of whether dogs can be taken in elevators has been a point of contention between pet owners and apartment residents throughout the country. There have been several reported conflicts over such issues in recent times.

In Noida, several apartment complexes have imposed restrictions on taking dogs in elevators. Pet owners argue that these restrictions are not legally enforceable. Apartment associations cite multiple instances of dog-related incidents in elevators as the reason for these rules.

Last year, the Greater Noida administration fined a pet owner ₹10,000 after his dog bit a six-year-old child in an apartment elevator.
