The tragic incident of a pilgrim bus being attacked by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district has left the entire nation in shock.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Reasi, Mohita Sharma, said that the driver lost control due to the firing, leading to the bus falling into the gorge. The rescue operation, aided by local residents, was completed by 8:10 pm, with all passengers evacuated.

The injured were transported to hospitals in Reasi, Treyath, and Jammu for treatment.

Prime Minister Modi dialed J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to get an update on the situation and stressed on providing the best medical help for the injured. LG Sinha assured that those responsible for the attack would be brought to justice.

"PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji took stock of the situation and has asked me to constantly monitor the situation. All those behind this heinous act will be punished soon. Hon'ble PM has also directed that all the injured are provided the best possible medical care and assistance," the Office of LG J&K said in a post on X.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah echoed the same sentiment, stating that the local administration is working on "war footing" to provide immediate medical attention to the injured and that the attackers would face strictest consequence.

The attack has been widely condemned. First-time BJP MP Kangana Ranaut and J&K BJP President Ravinder Raina both condemned the terrorist act, with the latter emphasising the resolve to ensure the perpetrators are held accountable.

Raina said, "Cowardly Pakistani terrorists cannot face the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and our paramilitary forces... The terrorists who have carried out this audacity will have to pay a heavy price for their crime."
