Realtor held for harassing film actress' daughter in Kerala

Coimbatore, April 19: A real estate businessman has been arrested for allegedly harassing the daughter of veteran South Indian film actress, K R Vijaya, police said today.

Hemalatha, 47, was staying alone in an apartment on Avanashi Road in the city, police said. Few days ago, the realtor, Kathirvel, who is already married, approached Hemalatha on the pretext of selling land.

Learning that the woman was staying alone, with children abroad, Kathirvel sought her hand, saying he wanted to marry her and if she agreed, he was ready to divorce his wife, police said.

Hemalatha immediately lodged a complaint with the police and a case was registered under Atrocities against Women's Act, they said, adding Kathirvel was arrested last night.

He has been remanded to judicial custody.
