Rajnath Singh, Defence Chiefs Set To Celebrate Diwali With Soldiers At Indo-China Border

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is set to celebrate Diwali with troops stationed along the Indo-China border in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh. This festive occasion will see the nation's top defence officials join him in various locations across the country to honor the sacrifices and dedication of the armed forces.

On the eve of the Festival of Lights, Singh, along with Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, arrived in Tawang to engage with soldiers stationed in the northeastern state. This initiative is part of a longstanding tradition that was popularized by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has made it a point to spend Diwali with military personnel since taking office in 2014.

Accompanying Singh in Tawang is Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi, ensuring that the celebrations resonate with camaraderie and festive spirit.

Defence Leaders Joining the Festivities

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan will participate in Diwali celebrations with soldiers in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Meanwhile, Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Tripathi is scheduled to celebrate with naval troops in Porbandar, Gujarat, and Air Chief Marshal AP Singh of the Indian Air Force will join the festivities with personnel in Jammu and Kashmir.

A Tradition of Gratitude

Prime Minister Modi's tradition of celebrating Diwali with troops has become a symbol of appreciation for the armed forces. In his first year as prime minister, Modi visited Siachen Glacier. Over the years, he has celebrated in various locations, including Amritsar, Himachal Pradesh, and Rajasthan, demonstrating his commitment to honouring those who serve the nation.

This year, while Defence Minister Singh and other officials engage with soldiers, Prime Minister Modi is attending a series of events in his home state of Gujarat.

As the celebrations unfold, the presence of top officials alongside the troops reinforces the government's dedication to acknowledging the sacrifices made by the armed forces, bringing joy and light to those serving at the nation's borders during this festive season.
